Lesson 1: Overcoming Negative Mindsets and Imposter Syndrome

Lesson 1: Overcoming Negative Mindsets and Imposter Syndrome

Welcome to Make That Course Academy!

I am your instructor, Ruzanna Tovmasyan. We have so much to learn, so much to go through, and I’m excited that you’re taking the first step to Make That Course. Thank you so much for joining me.

You are here because you are  determined and committed to pursue your dreams, be your own boss, and change your world by making your own eCourse.

Remember: You do not need Hollywood in your living room to make your own online course. There are so many different ways to do this that are inexpensive, easy, don’t require you to speak on camera. We will talk about all of them later.

Let’s have a chat about fear and Imposter Syndrome.

Many of my clients go through Imposter Syndrome which is fear. It's the little voice in your head that says, “I’m going to fail” or “I’m not good enough.” Once you see some results and start getting feedback from people that affirms what you have to offer others is truly valuable, it will push you forward. You’re not a loser or a fraud, you are learning, and you just need good feedback. Take this one step at a time.

Everything you need to know to have a profitable course, you are going to learn here.

Advice for success:

  1. Don’t jump too far ahead in your mind. Stay here with me, stay present, and you will learn everything you need to know to make your course succeed. Make sure to join our exclusive facebook community group for finding accountability, getting your questions answered, and connecting to others.
  2. Ask yourself:  “Am I willing to become what it takes to achieve the goals I want to achieve?” Are you willing to give certain things up?
  3. You will need to make time (so much time throughout our day is wasted- try spending an hour on your course).
  4. You will need to make the disciplines necessary to create your course.
  5. Change your mind (repent) about what you think about yourself and this whole circumstance. Whatever you believe about yourself and about the outcome is what is going to happen. You are going to make decisions, make choices, and have an attitude based on what you believe about yourself, so do not trap yourself. When we believe negative things about ourselves and our future, we either don’t try new things or end up sabotaging ourselves.
  6. You can create the future that you want for yourself. You are made in God’s image The first thing God did was create. It is in your DNA to create what you want, then take your power and create that future for yourself. Creativity is inside you.
  7. In whatever you’re teaching (remember we will pick our topic together):
  8. Think of a measurable end result.
  9. What is your story? What did you overcome?
  10. What did you learn? What struggles did you overcome? What problem can you solve?
  11. What are those steps to get there? (you just need to be a few steps ahead, not be an expert).
  12. The financial success of your course depends on how determined you are and how committed you are to the process (don’t be distracted and remember that this moment of discomfort will pass).
  13. Please stick with this process. Ask yourself, “Why are you here? What is it that you want? What are you truly committed to?” (you will have to hype yourself up with what is true).
  14. Courage is a choice, it is not a feeling. Fear is a feeling, but it doesn’t have to be true.
  15. Do not judge yourself or act in shame if something doesn’t work in this new process. Just see something that does not work as new data. Ask, "How can I adjust my approach to make it happen?".
  16. The way we kick Imposter Syndrome’s butt is through focusing on truth and proof.
  17. The proof is that people will like what you offer, and people will give you honest responses, so be open to their criticism. It is your greatest gift because you need feedback to tweak your product.
  18. What you are offering is valuable and you do not have to feel guilty for charging for it. People are committed to things that cost them something (it causes them to take it seriously).
  19. The first time you launch or start trying new things, do not see a goal you do not hit as rejection, see it as data, and consider how to adjust your approach.
  20. Write out your goals: Why are you here? What do you want?
